1) Keep a diary
It is vital to understand the real beginnings of anxiety in college students, among others. This system is particularly useful for people who always suffer under pressure and stressful situations, and do not know why.
By writing a diary, you will learn new things about yourself and you will keep tracking your life and what happens to you in a better way.
A girl, for example, can find that the beginnings of her anxiety attacks are flashed by the vision of violent movies.
She sees the characters expressing their anger freely; they make her get in touch with the anger she keeps in her mind, a sort of repressed anger. Maintaining a diary can show that there is a relationship between your thoughts and your emotions, and you can also know your fears as a first step to comprehend them.
Day by day, you have to write in the diary your level of anxiety. For example quiet, a bit worried, nervous, about to burst. Write what you do and what you think in a synthetic way.
An example of the diary could be the following, dealing with test anxiety:
Today I had the examination, was agitated, thought “maybe I would have been rejected”, and I was worried about how my parents could react. But I managed to finish the test and now I feel a little bit better.
2) Practice relaxation
Learn a relaxation technique and apply it every day. Do not be discouraged if initially it seems hard to relax or if you feel tenser than before and stressed about college! If you persevere, you will notice a significant decrease in your level of anxiety. Soon relaxation will become for you a pleasant habit, and you will discover that, since mind and body are intimately linked, physical relaxation leads to mental relaxation.
Many relaxation techniques are quite simple to learn. Meditation, yoga breathing, and abdominal work can lead to a relaxation in an excellent manner.
Meditation and relaxation techniques are frequently used for stress management. Check other tips and suggestions on how to deal with anxiety naturally and without medications!
3) Do physical activity
Every day, practice 30 minutes of exercise. However, be careful not to add stress to stress, because you have to choose something that you enjoy!
Even a walk of 30 minutes can be an excellent way to release tension.
This is just one of other thousand of good habits you can practice through the day to improve your productivity. Don’t miss other habits to boost productivity!
4) Eat properly
Attention to nutrition!
Bad nutrition is one of the first causes of stress and anxiety in college students! Sometimes anxiety can be heightened by a food intolerance or by abuse of drugs or stimulants.
Anxious people should avoid tea, coffee, cola, and nicotine. Since a physical condition of hypoglycemia often causes anxiety is essential to reduce the sweets, prefer bread and healthy food and make five light meals per day.
Additionally, chemicals and additives can cause allergies and then anxiety problems.
Having a healthy lifestyle one of the clue points for being motivated to study!
5) Cultivate friendships!
Stress among college students comes, most of the times, from a bad tendency of self-criticism because of people surrounding you. Try to avoid people that don’t appreciate you and be inspired only by those you feel good with.
6) Do not “criticise me” more!
Attention to self-criticism! The anxious person should pay attention to their thoughts to eliminate anxiety. Indeed, upset people criticise all the time. Learn to speak kindly, if for instance you repeat very often “you are doing everything wrong”, replace the negative with a positive statement such as “I also did positive things”.
This will also increase your self-esteem.
7) Do things that you enjoy
Even if you have a day full of commitments find the time to do something you love, and that relaxes you. I strongly suggest you to do something that you enjoy especially in days full of commitments.
I think you should reasonably have a look at a morning habit to practice to face better the day and improve your life.
Regardless, the activities that can enjoy are very different! More generally, they could be listening to music, painting, doing a puzzle or anything you love.
